$5 Million Reasons to Celebrate Press Release

On March 5th, 2009 the West Valley Lutheran Thrift Shop celebrated the Milestone of having given away over $5,000,000 since it's inception in 1994.

The money has been used to support West Valley Lutheran New Mission Starts and other West Valley non-profits including Habitat for Humanity, West Side Food Bank, Hospice of the Valley, Interfaith Service, Dysart Community Center, New Life Abused Women's Shelter, and Olive Branch Senior Center to list a few.

This $5 M milestone was commemorated at the Thrift’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at Luke Air Force Base. The WV Lutheran Thrift Store is staffed and run entirely by volunteers from local churches and the shelves are stocked with items donated by the community.

Often described as a treasure hunting adventure, the WV Lutheran Thrift sells clean, gently used clothing, household items, furniture, books, crafts and has a unique “Silent Auction” for many of the collectibles and vintage items that have been donated. Over the years, first edition books, antiques and even a 100 year-old Steiff Bear have been donated to the WV Lutheran Thrift helping to raise the $5,000,000.
